| The seeds I sowed— | 我播下的種子—— |
| For weeks unseen— | 幾個星期不見—— |

| Shoots of green; | 小得只一點點； |
| So frail you'd think | 它們那么脆弱， |
| The tiniest stone | 你們一定會想， |
| Would never let | 連小石子也能 |
| A glimpse be shown. | 阻止它們生長。 |
| But no; a pebble | 不對；有塊石子 |
| Near them lies, | 就在它們邊上， |
| At least a cherry-stone | 它的大小至少 |
