這句短語(yǔ)原是音樂(lè)用語(yǔ)，指某人僅憑聽(tīng)過(guò)的記憶就可彈奏樂(lè)曲。由此意引申出來(lái)后，"play by ear"強(qiáng)調(diào)事件的“即興”成分，沒(méi)有計(jì)劃、依據(jù)當(dāng)時(shí)情況而行事(to let things go as they may)，很有“邊走邊看吧，走著瞧，隨機(jī)應(yīng)變”的味道。

“改天吧”經(jīng)常出現(xiàn)在懶人或大忙人的口中，相當(dāng)于英語(yǔ)中的"rain check"。該短語(yǔ)來(lái)源于美國(guó)的棒球文化，如果球賽進(jìn)行時(shí)因?yàn)榇笥瓴坏貌粫和?，觀眾可領(lǐng)“雨票”，或用原票存根作為“雨票”(rain check)，球賽改期舉行時(shí)可憑之入場(chǎng)。

To do what one wants or maintain a situation as desired. Typically used as an imperative when the speaker is irritated, often because their advice is being ignored.

按某人自己的意愿去做或維持一種狀態(tài)。經(jīng)常在說(shuō)話者生氣時(shí)使用，因?yàn)樗麄兊慕ㄗh被忽略了。

例：

Fine, have it your way—sit in the sun. But I won't be the one slathering aloe on you if you get sunburned!

I'm cool with it.
