[正] They are at the end of their tether.
注：tether 是用來拴家畜的系繩，這些家畜只能在系繩盡頭所能達到的范圍內(nèi)活動，所以 at the end of one\'s tether 被用來比喻能力等“達到了極限”。這里的 tether 有時也用 rope 替代。
