Architect Kathryn Larsen spent some time in Japan during her summer break making amazing sketches of her trip along the way. At some of the locations, she received stamps and gorgeous stickers to adorn her drawings. A lot of the time, she would have locals stop and ask her about the drawings and tell her stories about the locations she was sketching.
These drawings give us a beautifully artistic view of the Japanese and their culture. Kathryn visited Nara, Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka, Amagasaki, Nishinomiya on her journey, focusing on the traditional architecture of the region she was in. Regarding this visit almost like a pilgrimage, she visited mostly shrines and temples, praying at each one when she completed her sketches.
Kathryn Larsen is an architect located in Copenhagen, Denmark, who works closely with seaweed and other sustainable building materials.
