e.g.<1>The gangsters AI Capone used to get rid of anyone that crossed him.

1. Check off  ： 核對(duì)，核查   to confirm that it is correct and in order

e.g.<1> I need to go through the companys inventory and check off that everything is there.

            我需要檢查一下公司的庫(kù)存以便核對(duì)其準(zhǔn)確性。

      <2> If you agree with the contract you can go through it and check off all the points and then just sign at the bottom..

e.g. My younger brother and I always used to beat other up, especially when we

3.Take one’s chances    賭一把，試一下  to take risk and count a lot for a good outcome.

e.g. <1>He is really taking his chance leaving his job. He might not be able to find a new job right away.

          他現(xiàn)在把工作辭了真是有點(diǎn)懸，他可能不會(huì)立刻找到一份新工作。

       <2> He didn’t want to take any chances when he went on vacation, so he made sure he bought travel insurance.

            他不希望旅游的時(shí)候發(fā)生什么意外，所以他一定要上一份旅游險(xiǎn)。
