Each year the Academy Award is given to the best picture, the best actor, the best actress, and to many other people in the movie world. The Award, first given in 1927, went to the film "Wings," which was silent. Pictures with sound became increasingly successful within the next year and began winning the Award regularly after 1928. The Academy Award Winner that has earned the most money is "The Godfather," one of the most popular films ever made.
