Mume flowers fade before the inn,

By riverside sway willows green.

On fragrant grass in the warm air a rider’s seen.

The farther he goes, the longer his parting grief grows,

Endless as vernal river flows.

His wife won’t lean on railings of the tower high.

Beyond the far-flung plain mountains shut out her view;

The rider’s farther away than the mountains blue.

候館梅殘，

溪橋柳細，

草熏風暖搖征轡。

離愁漸遠漸無窮，

迢迢不斷如春水。

寸寸柔腸，

盈盈粉淚，

樓高莫近危欄倚。

平蕪盡處是春山，

行人更在春山外。
