Major carmakers in China saw an upward trajectory in April, a trend analysts say would continue with the slew of models unveiled at the Auto Shanghai to hit the market one after another in the following months.

Nationwide passenger car retail sales hit 1.79 million units last month, up 17 percent year-on-year, according to the China Passenger Car Association.Of them, 52 percent were new energy vehicles, totaling 922,000 units, up 37 percent year-on-year.
