考點3 臨近原則

臨近原則是指謂語動詞的單復數(shù)與最近的主語的單復數(shù)形式保持一致。

1. 當not only... but（also）..., either... or..., neither... nor..., not... but...等引導并列主語時，謂語動詞的單復數(shù)取決于靠近謂語動詞的主語的單復數(shù)

Neither her younger brothers nor she is willing to return.

她和她的弟弟們都不愿意回來。

Not only Tom but also his parents have been tired of telling the story.

不僅湯姆而且他的父母都厭倦了講述這個故事。

2. 在某些倒裝句或倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)中，謂語動詞的單復數(shù)也取決于臨近主語的單復數(shù)形式

There is a pen and two books on the desk. 桌子上有一支筆和兩本書。

There are two books and a pen on the desk. 桌子上有兩本書和一支筆。
