愛(ài)是一個(gè)博大精神的話(huà)題，有著各式各樣的愛(ài)，有情人間甜蜜濃濃的愛(ài)，也有軍民魚(yú)水情似的“血濃于水”的愛(ài)。今天我們要談的就是軍民魚(yú)水情“血濃于血”的愛(ài)。

我們先來(lái)聽(tīng)下面的這個(gè)句子。

例句：Why shouldn't dad hire Cousin Jed instead of some stranger? The stranger may have better qualifications. But blood is thicker than water, you know.

譯文：爸爸為何不雇傭表哥Cousin Jed而雇傭外人呢?外人的條件也許更好些，你也知道胳膊肘得向里拐呀。

在我們剛才聽(tīng)到的例句中，可以聽(tīng)到一個(gè)跟“血”與“水”有關(guān)的短句：Blood is thicker than water. 究其源，It is form Germany. It's a German proverb.它是來(lái)自德國(guó)的一句諺語(yǔ)。Blood是“血”，water是“水”，thick在這句話(huà)中是 “intimate”(親密的)的意思。例如：John is very thick with Anne.(譯文：John和Anne很親密。) So, this proverb means family relationships are stronger and more important than other kinds of relationships .意思是指有著血緣關(guān)系的人相互之間的感情比外人更深厚。

那么當(dāng)親情與友情同時(shí)存在，我們只能選擇其一時(shí)，往往會(huì)割舍友情，選擇親情。下面就是這樣的例子。

Eg.My friends invited me to go camping on Saturday, but I have to go to my cousin's wedding instead. Blood is thicker than water, after all.

這句話(huà)是說(shuō)：我們朋友邀請(qǐng)我參加周日的野營(yíng)，但是我必須參加我表哥的婚禮，畢竟血濃于水。

這句話(huà)是說(shuō)：我知道我最好的朋友Mary，舞技精湛在跳黑天鵝時(shí)比我的妹妹好得多，但是我還是支持我的妹妹，你知道的，血濃于水。

我們知道了“Blood is thicker than water.”是形容骨肉親情間難以割舍，親情重于一切。那么為何有這個(gè)意思呢?因?yàn)楣艜r(shí)候親人走失，往往采用滴血認(rèn)親的方式——若有血緣關(guān)系，滴入的血就會(huì)沖破水的阻隔融合在一起，由此可見(jiàn)親情是無(wú)可阻擋的，親情至上。

那么后來(lái)“Blood is thicker than water.”又有另一層意思，它被引申為民族、種族感情至上。在汶川大地震中，我們的子弟兵奔赴災(zāi)區(qū)尋找每一個(gè)生還的生靈;當(dāng)無(wú)情的洪水撲向我們時(shí)，我們的子弟兵用身軀鑄造了一道防水墻;在非典突如其來(lái)時(shí)，無(wú)數(shù)醫(yī)務(wù)工作者犧牲了自己而拯救了他人...... 這就是我們中華民族精神至上的體現(xiàn)。因?yàn)橛兄@一句話(huà)：

Eg.Our leaders of the older generation have always been told that blood is thicker than water. And the nation must be united. Otherwise we will be bullied.

這句話(huà)是說(shuō)：我們老一輩的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)階層都被告知血濃于水，整個(gè)民族一定要團(tuán)結(jié)，不然的話(huà)會(huì)被人家欺負(fù)。
