他們是怎么生長(zhǎng)的?

This is only a blade of grass;

這一片草葉青青，

But how does it grow? Does any one know?

它是怎么生長(zhǎng)的，有誰(shuí)說(shuō)得清?

The seasons come, and the seasons pass,

四季的腳步匆匆，來(lái)了又消失無(wú)蹤，

And with every year the grass we have here,

在陽(yáng)光和細(xì)雨中，每年都有小草，

So green and bright in the sun and rain;

出現(xiàn)在這里，生滿(mǎn)濃綠的希望;

And then it is brown when the snow comes down

當(dāng)雪花飄落，草色變成了枯黃，

But green and fresh in the spring again.

但來(lái)年春天，又彼上了翠綠的新裝

This is only a little girl;

這一個(gè)女孩小小，

But how does she grow? Does any one know?

她是怎么成長(zhǎng)的，有誰(shuí)能知道?

With her hair of gold and her teeth of pearl,

金子般的頭發(fā)，珍珠般的牙齒，

From a baby so wee she will grow to be

從襁褓中的嬰兒，她會(huì)改換形象，

A maiden as fair as a blooming rose;

長(zhǎng)成明媚的女子，如同玫瑰的盛放;

But no one can say, as day follows day,

但一天又一天里，草葉和女孩的生長(zhǎng)

How a blade of grass or a little girl grows.

卻沒(méi)有一個(gè)人，說(shuō)得出具體的模樣
