561　proof和evidence

① proof指直接的確實證據，不容置疑的證據。

His actions were proof that he was telling the truth. 他的行動就是他說實話的證明。

② evidence作“證據”解時，為不可數(shù)名詞，指或對或錯的事實，但并不能確切證明究竟是對是錯，多指與法律訴訟有關的證物、見證。

Running away was evidence of his guilt. 逃跑是他犯罪的證據。

提示

作“跡象，形跡”解時，evidence亦可作可數(shù)名詞。

There are evidences that somebody ever lived here. 有跡象表明，有人曾住在這里。
