“一國(guó)兩制”的“國(guó)”是“country”還是“nation”？

“一國(guó)兩制”的“國(guó)”是“country”還是“nation”?

“一國(guó)兩制”是中國(guó)特有的政治制度，翻譯為”one country, two systems”。但是我們的“國(guó)慶節(jié)”卻翻譯為”National Day”。

“國(guó)”究竟是”country”還是”nation”?

或者還有其他的表達(dá)?

我們的漢語(yǔ)中，只有“國(guó)家與地區(qū)”，其中“國(guó)家”是指“主權(quán)國(guó)家”，“地區(qū)”是指“沒(méi)有主權(quán)的政治體”，通常都是殖民地、屬地和托管地。

所以，中華人民共和國(guó)屬于“國(guó)家”，港澳臺(tái)屬于“地區(qū)”，美國(guó)屬于“國(guó)家”，波多黎各和關(guān)島屬于“地區(qū)”。

然而在英語(yǔ)里，可翻譯成國(guó)家的詞有三個(gè)：country, nation和state。

Country

“country”指一個(gè)國(guó)家山川大地等自然特征，強(qiáng)調(diào)“疆土、土地”概念。

Nation

Wikipedia: A nation (from Latin: natio," people, tribe, kin, genus, class, flock") is a large group or collective of people with common characteristics attributed to them — including language, traditions, mores(customs), habitus (habits), and ethnicity.

“nation”指生活在某一土地上的族群，是某一特定人群在某種文化意義上的共同體。他們有著共同的一些特征，比如語(yǔ)言、傳統(tǒng)、習(xí)俗等。

我們平時(shí)說(shuō)的“民族”、“國(guó)族”、“中華民族”就是這樣一種”nation”的概念。

他的故事感動(dòng)了全體國(guó)民。

中國(guó)人是一個(gè)勤勞的民族。

State

Wikipedia: State (polity), an organized community living under a single political structure and government, sovereign or constituent.

“State”指的是一個(gè)國(guó)家的“政府、政權(quán)”。

● One may feel the social, economic, and political pulse of the state.

任何人都可以感覺(jué)到這個(gè)國(guó)家的社會(huì)，經(jīng)濟(jì)和政治的脈搏。

● A state has its obligations to protect people.

政府有義務(wù)保護(hù)它的人民。

總而言之，” country” 是地理和國(guó)土上的概念;”nation”是從民族和國(guó)民層面上而言;而”state”是政治和政權(quán)上的意思。我們和”nation”, “country”之間是先天的，自然的紐帶關(guān)系，我們愛(ài)國(guó)，這是一種淳樸的感情。而我們和”state”之間則是契約的關(guān)系，我們讓渡一些權(quán)利，組成政府，由其提供公共服務(wù)來(lái)保護(hù)和服務(wù)我們。
